You're not a cool mom.
Tonight I went to see Pitch Perfect (side note, for a music nerd like me it was aca-awesome). As the previews began, a woman walked into the theatre with her husband, pushing a stroller. At first I thought “meh, I’ve seen people bring newborns to a movie, they sleep through the whole thing. happened at batman”. Whoaaa no. This woman had a 4-5 year old child. The child walked...

Pitching In.
Let me be upfront for a moment. I pitch in far more than the average live-at-home-at-24 daughter. I freely and willingly do a heck of a lot around the house. I provide entertainment and sometimes keep both of my parents sane. I sacrifice my lunch hour to drive home and take the dogs out whenever my mother can’t do it. When the go on vacation, I’m expected to be the house sitter and...

IgA Deficiency
Sooo let me be clear here. I’m not thankful that I have IgA deficiency. However, I’m glad that I know about it and there are doctors who understand what the heck I’m talking about. Having a colonoscopy at age 20 is less than ideal, but after having a sorority sister diagnosed with cancer after a colonoscopy, I’m willing to take any and all precautions when it comes to my...

home
I’m so thankful for my house. My home. Not just the roof over my head, but the warm feeling that comes with it. I may be 23 and living with my parents, but I still feel welcome. It’s still my home, not just my parents’.

G-Parents
To my friends who still have grandparents living, I implore you, CHERISH THEM.
I have one remaining grandparent, my dear darling Nana. She is 94 now, and after multiple strokes, is wheelchair bound and has very little short term memory. She knows who we are, God bless her, but has to be reminded which grandchild belongs to who. We lost my Papa two years ago last month, who was battling with...

Fing Fong Fam
I could litter this post with umpteen million photos of my family. We have enough of them. What I want to get across in this “Letter F” post is how important my family is to me. I live at home, yes, at age 23. There is no question to this, however. My parents are great roomies, and I’d be pretty bored if I lived by myself. Going beyond the parentals, my sister is one of my...

Ellie Bellie
For the letter E- I am SO thankful for my Ellie Bellie. Ellie is my cousin Lindsey’s baby, and I’m absolutely obsessed with her. She’s so stinking cute and I couldn’t be happier that Lindsey, her husband Justin, and Ellie are moving to Fort Wayne from Chicago. I don’t want to miss a single moment of this precious little nugget growing up.

Nov 3rd- a day late oopies.
So this was meant for yesterday, but I got caught up in packing for the weekend.
Canterbury School
If I were to be thankful for anything besides family and health, it would be Canterbury. My home for 15 years. I started attending Canterbury at age 3 all the way through senior year of high school. Since I’ve moved home, I’ve gotten involved in the alumni association and it has really...

November 2nd-
This is post one of two for the day. As I was thinking “hmm what am I thankful for that starts with a B?”, my mind finally wandered to the answer that should have slapped me in the face 30 seconds prior: broadway. Like, seriously, me?
I’ve been in love with musical theatre for as long as I can remember. I didn’t enjoy movies as a child unless music was involved. I’ve...

Sorry I’m not much of a blogger- I try to be, then I think people are judging me for not doing my real job. A friend of mine is doing this on Facebook and while I think it’s slightly cheesy, it doesn’t mean I don’t think it’s worth a try. Every day this month I’m going to list something I’m thankful for- she’s doing the ABC’s every day til...

Babysitting
Ever since I was of age to understand, well, age, I have loved children. Wherever I went I would be a child magnet. I make funny faces at them, talk to them, wink at them, and I am their new best friend. I would babysit friends siblings, sometimes when my friends were there. Like, same age. My sister would pass off any babysitting job she was offered to me, and I was totally fine with it. I was a...

When someone wakes me up:
bea-rose13:
All day, e’ryday.
And can there be a collective “Awwww” right now? On the count of three, “One, Two…”
It’s so true. and i love this kitty.
I’ve learned several things this week.
-dog breeds have severely different personalities. Labs follow you into the bathroom.
-cats like to get all up in your bidness:
-I might be ready to live elsewhere, but I’m not ready to live by myself.
-Animal Hoarders is terrifying. Why anyone would want more than 3 cats is dumb.
-Dropbox is the best application/download I’ve used in...
Story of my life..
Mom: Hi honey, it’s your roommates, we’re just wondering if you’ll be home for dinner. Love you!
I am so flipping giddy about Verizon’s “announcement” today: 1/11/11 at 11am (est). I haven’t been this excited since RueLaLa had a Tory Burch sale. Thankfully, this giant mug of tea will tide me over until then.
I know they say money can’t buy you happiness, but right now it sure could help. aka my own house.

Best. Weekend. Ever.
Reasons why this weekend ruled:
1. I got to see my cousin, her husband, and their baby, Ellie. She’s getting so big!!
2. I auditioned for the Oxygen reality show “The Glee Project”. I’m not allowed to say much, but it went well! I won’t know my status until mid-January.
2.5 At said audition, I met Chord Overstreet, a member of the Glee cast. He’s extremely...

I’m usually too tired to stay up for SNL, but man. Am I glad I did last night. First, Paul Rudd hosted. He’s just the best. Second, Paul McCartney as the musical guest. He performed not two, not three, but FOUR TIMES. Has that ever happened in SNL history? But all in all, my favorite reoccurring character appeared: Stefon.
I’m auditioning for a production of Rent tomorrow. To say I’m nervous is an understatement.
Remember when Jimmy Fallon used to just sing falsetto and laugh at his own jokes? Man. Now he’s singing with Paul McCartney.
I just made Christmas cookies, and now I feel like I just ran 5 miles.
I learned how to harmonize from two people.

IT’S MY BIRTHDAY MONTH!
I forgot to “Rabbit Rabbit” this morning. Ugh. Guess I’ll just have to wait for the new year.
In celebration of such a delightful month, I’ll outline the delightful things that have happened this year.
-I graduated from DePauw University with a B.A. in Communications, Theatre emphasis, and a French minor.
-I’ve traveled to...

Leslie Nielsen
My parents really do surprise me with the stories they have. I know they waited 10 years before they had kids, so they had time to live a little, but honestly. The stuff they did.
I was saddened to hear about the passing of an acting legend, Leslie Nielsen. I broke the news at the breakfast table this morning and my mom immediately said “Oh, he was so funny” and I responded “I...

You think that after being married 36 years, you’d remember your anniversary. And remember what kind of jewelry your wife wears. This has become an annual tradition of me picking out nice things for my mom and my dad choosing something half the price and twice as chintzy.

The Holidays
So in Fort Wayne, there are two of every radio station. Two hip-hop stations, two classic rock stations, two country stations, two top-40 stations, you get the picture. I have no qualms with radio stations playing Christmas music. If you don’t like it, you can change the station. What I don’t understand is the two top-40 stations started playing Christmas music already. I’m just...

Nana
I’m sure I’ll be talking about my Nana a good deal. For those new to my life, here’s the cliffnotes: I have one remaining grandparent, my mom’s mom, aka Nana. Nana is 93 years old and lives in an assisted living facility. She had a series of strokes when I was in college, which has left her tired, a bit slower than she used to be, and lacking a short term memory. My mom and...
